Writing a Novella

Hey all,

Recently I put my first novel onto Amazon for preorder. Now I am hard at work on the other books in the series. One of the books is a prequel to A Daughter's Fury. It's a novella, and it's a little different than writing a novel because it's faster paced. The whole point of the story is to focus on my main character's (Alex) romantic past. Yet, as I'm writing I start to focus on the supporting details treating them like the story is about them. Yeah no, that's not going to fly.

Another problem I'm having is that I don't write romance. I don't know how. I never have before. This novella is a romance, it's a steep learning curve. I want people to fall in love with Alex's love story. For me, it's the best part of the whole series (even if it isn't an integral part of the series). So many of Alex's choices and behavior is based on what happens in this story and I don't want to screw it up.

That's my biggest fear. Screwing up the story to the point that no one sees what I see. All because I can't adequately convey the story.

Thanks for listening.

Taylor.

Almost There!

Hi,

I'm very excited! Today I submitted my novel for publication through Amazon self publishing. I set it up so that it would automatically publish next month and in the mean time open for pre-order. Before I could hit that little orange 'publish' button. I had a lot of reviewing to do. When you write something on Word and Amazon changes it to how it'll look on kindle, it is very different. So I had to go back into Word and format it so it'll look good on Kindle. I had to do that three times.

In the end it was worth it though. It looks fantastic by the way. Later, I'll be posting the link and details to my lovely novel!

She's Here

Isn't she beautiful? Available for pre-order here.

Everyone has secrets. Who knew I had so many. Battle scarred seventeen-year-old Alexandra is an orphan and runaway. She's been scouring the country hunting for her father’s killer. Approached by a man, spinning tales about Athena, the Greek Goddess, he claims Athena is her estranged mother. He tells her of a place that can hold off the attacks on her life. Out of desperation she agrees to go. While settling into the Sanctuary of the Heroes with new friends and her half siblings, another hero is found. Alex and two companions are sent to St. Louis. A city Alex swore never to step foot in again. Finding a hero in a big city is no easy task. Alex will make contact with old acquaintances for assistance along the quest. When the hero is found, new troubles arise. Alex must now enlist the help of her lost love to save the hero. With betrayal, hate, and love thick in the air, can the hero be saved? Will Alex ever learn the truth behind her father’s death?

I'm thrilled! Get a copy and spread the word!

Second Portion

Hello,

During this blog I've posted constantly on the process of writing a novel. Specifically my journey writing my novels. While I was writing my first book, I focused on the now and two steps ahead. Then I finished. Now, I'm looking around trying to figure out the next steps. Thankfully Amazon self publishing services has amazing guidelines. They talk about everything under the moon regarding how they work, what the author has to do. It's very helpful.

One of things that need to be done no matter how a novel is published is getting a Copyright. From what I understand traditional publishers do this step for their authors. Lucky people. I just submitted my application, I'm pretty sure everything was written in another language. It actually didn't take as long as I thought it would. Thankfully I muddled through it.

After I get my copyright I can start to get my cover together. I'm hyped about that. I'm pretty much the energizer bunny for everything regarding getting my book published!

I'm Free! I'm Free! Until Tomorrow Anyway

Hey People,

I'm in an amazing mood right now. Want to know why? Because I just finished the the first draft of my second book! Not only did I finish it, I finished it early! Woo. I'm so excited.

I am now free! Until tomorrow when I start my novella. Then when I finish that first draft, I'll be free again. Until the next day when I start my third novel. So on and so on. It kind of confounds me that this is actually who I want to spend my life. Then I remember that it's so much fun! Creating and building a world that only I can build!

Actually was I approached probably the most important scene in the entire series I realized that while writing and explaining this part. It would either make or break the entire series. If it go perfectly I would have either rethink my master plan or rewrite parts of the first book. I admit I started to freak out. Instead I just breathed, prayed, and relaxed. Then I started to write, and it flowed perfectly. It was smooth, elegant, and it did exactly what it was supposed to. It was like a jig saw puzzle piece that fit perfectly and revealed the beauty of the image.

As I said I'm thrilled!
