An Alternative

Bonjour (French for hello),

Before I begin I would like to state that the following is what I understand and not fact.
For months I read blogs and articles about how to publish; traditionally versus self-publishing. Whether or not to have an agent. Which is usually required when trying to traditionally published. Usually because the big house publishers they don't accept unsolicited manuscripts.Where as smaller independent publishing houses, you can submit too, without an agent.

I personally would like to traditionally publish. Two months ago I queried agents. So far the search hasn't gone that well. Recently I started doing research on smaller publishing houses. Trying to find one that worked with my genre and I could directly submit to. Of course being me, I waited before doing anything spontaneously. I waited and prayed and waited some more. Then I got up the nerve to fill out the submission guide, upload my novel, and hit submit. Nice thing about this, is that in two months or less I'll be getting an answer.

One thing I do prefer about self-publishing is the control I have over my creation. My book is my baby, if I'm sending it out into the world, I want to make sure it's introduced properly.

Agent Update (Another One Bites the Dust)

Ciao (hello in Italian),

It’s been two months since I sent out to agents. Around this time, I have to go back to the agent’s websites to see when the timeframe ends. To explain, some agents don't send a rejection letter. Because of this they give a timeframe saying 'if you don't hear from me after six weeks I'm not interested.' Every agent is different one agent had a maximum of four weeks and another twelve weeks.

While I'm researching how long I should wait I am listening to this.

I figured it was appropriate. Plus, it's upbeat enough that as I cross off agents I won't burst into tears. Ha. Yeah, I'm not betting on that either.
